About 

Dr. Barend Zack is a comprehensive ophthalmologist, cataract surgeon, and glaucoma subspecialist. Dr. Zack was born in Vancouver, BC and grew up in Richmond. He has been serving the Fraser Valley community since 2006 and sees patients from around the province. He has been involved as a leader in the BC ophthalmology community and glaucoma community, and is a clinical instructor in the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine ophthalmology division. He performs cataract, pterygium, and glaucoma surgery, and sees all types of general eye disorders as well as routine eye health check ups.

Educational Background and Awards

Dr. Zack attended the University of British Columbia and began his undergraduate studies in the faculty of science. He was then accepted into UBC Medical School where he completed his medical degree. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto, followed by a glaucoma fellowship at the University of California, Irvine.

He is American Board Certified, a member of the British Columbia Medical Association, the Canadian Medical Association, British Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Canadian Ophthalmological Society, British Columbia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

 

Dr. Zack was a recipient of the Canada Scholars Scholarship at UBC. He was also awarded the St. Michael’s Hospital Gordon Kelly Award for outstanding contribution as a junior resident.
